Mindful Eating over Mindless Eating

How to start eating more mindfully

Women are often guilty of mindless eating. We may be so wrapped up in our day-to-day lives that we don’t even realize we’re eating until we’ve already finished a bag of chips/ice-cream/jar of nut butter. Mindful eating, on the other hand, is a more conscious approach to food that can help us make better choices about what we eat and when.

Mindful eating begins with paying attention to our bodies and what we’re craving. Instead of automatically reaching for that bag of chips when we’re feeling bored or stressed, we can try to take a few moments to ask ourselves what we really need. maybe we’re actually thirsty and need a drink of water, or maybe we’re actually hungry and need a snack.

Once we’ve identified what we need, it’s important to take the time to enjoy our food. We should savor every bite, and avoid eating while we’re distracted. This may be difficult at first, but with practice, it can become second nature.

Mindful eating can help us develop a healthier relationship with food, and it can also help us maintain a healthy weight. When we’re mindful of what we’re eating, we’re less likely to over indulge.

So how can we start eating mindfully?

  1. Start by paying attention to your body and what you’re craving.

  2. Take the time to enjoy your food, and avoid eating while you’re distracted.

  3. Start by making small changes. Try to focus on eating one or two healthy foods at a time.

  4. Slow down. It takes about 20 minutes for your brain register that you’re full. So, if you eat slowly, you’re less likely to overeat.

  5. Be patient. It may take some time to get used to mindful eating. But it’s worth it!
